CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today selected left-handed pitcher Kyle Ryan from Triple-A Iowa and optioned right-handed pitcher Cory Abbott to Iowa. To make room for Ryan on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Robert Stock has been designated for assignment.

In 13 outings with Iowa this season, Ryan is 2-0 with one save, a 1.93 ERA (4 ER/18.2 IP) and a .080 WHIP while striking out 22 compared to five walks.

Ryan is in his fourth season with the Cubs organization after signing with the club on December 29, 2017. An original 12th round draft pick of the Detroit Tigers in 2010, Ryan owns a career 13-8 record with a 3.86 ERA (89 ER/207.1 IP) in 180 appearances (seven starts). He has stranded 81 of 115 inherited runners, walked 81 and struck out 141 batters.

Abbott, 25, has no record with a 4.32 ERA (4 ER/8.1 IP) in four relief appearances for Chicago in MLB debut season. He is 1-3 with a 6.03 ERA (21 ER/31.1 IP) in six starts for Iowa this year.
