The Chicago Cubs are full-go on trade talks as we near the trade deadline on Friday at 3 p.m. CDT.

ESPN baseball insider Jeff Passan dropped a trade nugget this morning reporting that the Cubs and the Rays have discussed a trade involving former MVP Kris Bryant.

“The reigning American League champion Rays, long recognized for their ability to win with minuscule payrolls, have had preliminary discussions about both Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer and Chicago Cubs third baseman/outfielder Kris Bryant, league sources told ESPN," Passan said.

Other teams that might be in on the Bryant sweepstakes reportedly include the Phillies and Mets.

For the season, Bryant is hitting .269 with 17 homers and 50 RBIs.
