Good news might be on the horizon for Cubs fans.

The Chicago Cubs have reportedly made an offer on an extension to Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo according to MLB insider Jon Heyman.

"Cubs are trying to extend star 1B Anthony Rizzo and have made him an offer," he posted on social media. "Last word heard is that there’s still a gap. But there’s nearly a week to go before season starts."

Rizzo told NBC Sports that he is very happy in the Windy City.

“I’ve obviously expressed it before. I love Chicago," Rizzo said. "I love the fans. I love the city. I’m happy here. It’s just about doing what’s right and what makes sense.”

Rizzo hopes that he spends his entire baseball career in Chicago.

“I want to be here for the rest of my career," he said. "I want to be here 25 years from now when the Cubs are in the World Series, throwing out first pitches. I’ve seen other Cubs greats come back. That motivates me to keep getting better.”
