Cubs News: Injury development on Cole Hamels |
CHICAGO — Lost in the shuffle of the mad dash of injury developments that made waves surrounding the Chicago Cubs on Thursday afternoon and evening was the revelation that Cubs starting pitcher
Cole Hamels is currently battling fatigue in his left shoulder. As a result, Hamels will miss his scheduled start on Friday, and when he next pitches after that has yet to be determined.
Hamels has not been his usual self as of late, with the left-hander's last winning decision coming on Aug. 20. Evidently, fatigue in his throwing shoulder is at least partially to blame, as Hamels has reportedly been dealing with it for several weeks now. In Hamels' place, youngster Alec Mills will make a spot start for the Cubs when they battle the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field on Friday. Cole Hamels being skipped due to left shoulder fatigue. Been dealing with it for several weeks. Next start TBD. 'If Cole says he's hurting, he's hurting, man'.
