Cubs News: Javier Baez misses out on 2018 Gold Glove award

Cubs second baseman Javier Baez didn't win the Rawlings' Gold Glove Award at second base which was announced on Sunday night on ESPN. He was seeking his first Glove Glove in his career.

Rockies' D.J. LeMahieu won the award for the third time.

Baez hit .290 with 34 homers, and an NL-leading 111 RBIs this season.

Defensively, he mostly played three positions (plus 1x at first) in the infield helping out the Cubs defense. At second, he had 373 total chances, with 163 putouts, 204 assists, only made six errors, turned 60 double plays, and had a fielding percentage of .984.

In other Cubs news, Anthony Rizzo tied Freddy Freeman to get his second gold glove award. Heyward didn't win a gold glove as Nick Markakis won instead.
