Cubs News: Javy Baez on upset fans: "They don't control my game or our game"

by - Senior Editor -

El Mago is one of the must-see stars of major league baseball.

Javier Baez was hoping for a better start to the season as his veteran team has limped out to a horrible 2-7 record.

Baez spoke honestly to the media following Sunday's loss against the Brewers and was asked if the fans have a right to be upset with the team's mediocrity.

"They don't control this," he said. "I don't control their mouths. They don't control my game or our game. We just have to keep everything out of the clubhouse, just block everything negative that is coming to us right now and go out there and have fun."

Baez knows that you can't listen to the haters and all the outside noise when things aren't going well. Negativity will only compound issues if things aren't bouncing your way.

Hopefully, the Cubs will 'Fly the W' a few times during their home opening series, and everything will be back on course for 2019.

Baez has hit .256 with four homers (4th in NL), two stolen bases (2nd in NL), eight runs (10th in NL) and 8 RBIs in 39 at-bats this season.
