Jon Lester bought 4,838 Miller Lites for Chicago Cubs fans |
'Big Jon' did one final great deed for Cubs fans.
Free-agent pitcher Jon Lester bought nearly 5000 Miller Lites worth around $33,000 (47K total bill) for Chicago Cubs fans this weekend as a thank you for all the good times the last six years on the North Side. Lester posted on social media the following heartfelt message. "Thanks for coming out this weekend y’all! Yesterday we added 1,372 @millerlites to my tab, bringing our grand total to 4,838. Shout out to all the bars, their staff, and those cheering from afar! Whether this is goodbye or see you next year, I love you Chicago!" What a nice gesture by Lester, and he continues to make himself a fan favorite with Cubs fans. Hopefully, the Cubs and Lester can still work out something this offseason so he can have another run with the ballclub in 2021. Thanks for coming out this weekend y’all! Absolutely incredible. https://t.co/NmQjPRLNMG On the anniversary of the win, and after he just spent the weekend buying everyone in Chicago beers, it’s a good time to remind everyone that Jon Lester came to the Cubs and delivered on his promise to bring a World Series Title with him.
