Cubs News: Marquee Sports Network in 'active negotiation' with YouTube TV

by - Senior Editor -

One of the most hot-topics this offseason for Cubs fans is how they will be able to watch their beloved team in 2020.

The Marquee Sports Network is the new home of the Cubs, and they have added partnerships with several streamers and cable companies but not yet with giants Comcast and YouTube TV.

However, according to Sinclair CEO Chris Ripley on an earnings call on Wednesday, they confirmed they are trying to make it work with YouTubeTV.

“We just recently added Marquee onto Hulu and YouTube is an active negotiation that’s near term,” he said.

However, Crane Kenny said today on 670 The Score that it was "less likely" to get a deal done with YouTube TV than Comcast.

Hopefully, the network will add Comcast and YouTube TV, so their blueprint will be all over Chicago and nationally for folks. I know people are anxious, but there are several weeks left until Opening Day 2020. Sometimes these negotiations last right up to the minute of the start of a season.

In case you missed it, Marquee announced that they had signed WOW! to a network agreement on Wednesday, which is the fourth-largest provider in the Chicago area.

Thursday afternoon update:

Not good news for Cubs fans...
