The Chicago Cubs will eventually play baseball but not anytime soon.

Previously, the season was going to start on April 9.

MLB released a statement on Monday afternoon that games will be pushed back at least eight weeks with the accordance with the CDC recommendation of restricting events of more than 50 people for the next eight weeks.

“The clubs remain committed to playing as many games as possible when the season begins,” the commissioner’s office said in a statement. "We will continue to monitor ongoing events and undertake the precautions and best practices recommended by public health experts, and urge all baseball fans to follow suit."
