Chicago Cubs third baseman Nick Madrigal is close to getting back on the field after he suffered a right hamstring injury on July 4 against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Cubs manager David Ross said Thursday that Madrigal will do a rehab assignment in Iowa starting on Friday through the weekend. “The hope is that he would rehab this weekend, then both teams are off Monday, and he’d be ready to face the South Siders, which would be his ideal scenario, I think,” Ross said. Madrigal is hitting .278 with 17 RBIs this season. In other injury rehab news, Dansby Swanson is progressing with his injury as he is running bases today.
