CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today placed outfielder Michael Hermosillo on the 10-day injured list with a left forearm strain and selected outfielder Nick Martini from Triple-A Iowa.
Martini, 31, begins his third stint with the Cubs this season, having appeared in 12 games and going 1-for-12 with an RBI and two walks. The left-handed hitter has batted .267 (72-for-270) with nine doubles, three triples, a career-high 11 home runs and 40 RBI in 78 games with Iowa this year.
Martini has appeared in 99 career major league games with Oakland (2018-19), San Diego (2019) and the Cubs, hitting .261 (67-for-257) with 13 doubles, four triples, two home runs, 27 RBI and a .363 on-base percentage. He has appeared in 76 games in left field, three in right field and two in center field.
A native of Crystal Lake, Ill., Martini signed a minor league contract with the Cubs in January of this year after spending the 2020 campaign at the Phillies Alternate Training Site.

Hermosillo isn't quite sure how he hurt his forearm but it was sore after a day of swings recently. Martini was with the Cubs earlier this season as a left-handed-hitting OFer.
Michael Hermosillo's left forearm strain will end his season. Green says it will take weeks to recover from the injury, which by then the season will be over.— Meghan Montemurro (@M_Montemurro) September 8, 2021
A tough break for Hermosillo, who was getting an extended big-league opportunity and had been playing well. #Cubs
