WATCH: Anthony Rizzo barrels home on wild pitch, slides in safely |
CHICAGO — Showing off his wheels, Chicago Cubs first baseman
Anthony Rizzo sped home with a full head of steam on a wild pitch at Wrigley Field on Monday. Scoring from third base with two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Rizzo increased the Cubs' lead over the Cincinnati Reds to 3-1.
Rizzo reached base on a double to left earlier in the frame and then made it to third on a groundout. The Cubs had runners on the corners with two outs, and Reds starter Luis Castillo threw a pitch in the dirt that Rizzo took advantage of, as the burly first baseman slid in safely at the plate ahead of a tag from Castillo.
