WATCH: Anthony Rizzo barrels to third base for second triple of season |
PITTSBURGH — Turning on the jets, Chicago Cubs first baseman barreled his way around the bases for his second triple of the season on Thursday. Leading off the top of the sixth with a triple at PNC Park, Rizzo smashed a shot to deep right and turned it into a 3-bagger.
The mountainous Rizzo rumbled and stumbled along the basepaths en route to securing the triple, and he needed to catch his breath at third after sliding in safely. The liner hit into the right-field corner came on a breaking ball thrown by Pirates reliever Clay Holmes. Soon afterward, Rizzo scored after tagging up on a foulout, putting the Cubs up 10-3. Any other player in baseball MAYBE legs out a double here.@ARizzo44? Thinking three the whole way.
