WATCH: Caratini clobbers RBI double into left-field well |
Not long after Chicago Cubs right fielder
Jason Heyward tagged Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas for a 2-out double, Cubs catcher
Victor Caratini scored Heyward with a 2-out double of his own. Smacking a 2-bagger into the left-field well at Wrigley Field, Caratini enabled Heyward to cross the plate with ease, putting the Cubs up 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth.
Caratini hammered a curveball thrown over the middle to deep left field for his second hit of the afternoon. The backstop now has six RBI on the season. Unfortunately for Mikolas, his start ended soon afterward, as Cubs second baseman David Note hit a liner directly into Mikolas' throwing arm in the at-bat following Caratini's. Mikolas was able to field the ball and throw Bote out to end the fourth frame, but he did not return to the mound in the bottom of the fifth. David Bote hits Miles Mikolas to end the 4th.
