WATCH: Craig Kimbrel dominates in his debut with Cubs organization

by - Senior Writer -

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Making his highly anticipated debut with the Chicago Cubs organization, closer Craig Kimbrel shined in his first appearance with the Triple-A Iowa Cubs on Tuesday. Pitching in Iowa's matchup against the Sacramento River Cats, Kimbrel sat the River Cats down in order in the seventh inning. Needing just eight pitches, six of which were strikes, to record three outs, Kimbrel was very efficient in his 1-inning stint.

The star reliever is expected to toe the rubber for Iowa in a few more games before the Cubs' front office decides upon his next path to joining the big-league Cubs, if they determine that any further preparation is needed at all. Kimbrel discussed his debut with the media afterward and stated the length of his minor-league stint will be based more on how he feels on the mound than the number of appearances.
