WATCH: David Bote smashes 423-foot two-run blast in first inning

Putting the Cubs up 2-0 over the Marlins, David Bote slugged a first-inning home run for the first time in his MLB career.

MIAMI — Giving the Chicago Cubs something to be excited about on the road in the wake of two consecutive home sweeps, David Bote went yard in the top of the first on Friday. The second baseman slugged a two-run blast off starter Jesus Luzardo at LoanDepot Park, putting the Cubs up 2-0.

A 423-foot no-doubter to left, Bote's seventh home run of the season came on an 83.3-mph curveball. It plated third baseman Matt Duffy, who began the game by drawing a leadoff walk. The dinger marked the first opening-inning homer of Bote's MLB career. The hard-hit, towering long ball left the bat at 107.3 mph and 27 degrees.
