by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO, Ill. — The Chicago Cubs (30-20) and the Cincinnati Reds (23-28) engaged in a heavy-hitting clash at Wrigley Field on Saturday afternoon, as the Cubs won the back-and-forth affair via an RBI pinch-hit double off the bat of David Bote that gave the Cubs the lead for good. With the 8-6 victory, the Cubs evened the series at 1-1 and set up Sunday's contest as a rubber match.

A combined six home runs were clubbed on the windy day at the Friendly Confines, with the Cubs hitting three of them as part of an 11-hit performance. The Cubs scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth, one of which occurred on Bote's aforementioned double, to break a 6-6 tie. On the mound, Cubs starter Yu Darvish lasted seven innings for his longest outing as a Cub, and Cubs reliever Tyler Chatwood came on in the ninth and tallied his first save as a Cub.
