WATCH: Highlights from Cubs' hard-fought victory versus Padres

by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO — For the second consecutive game, the Chicago Cubs (54-44) defeated the San Diego Padres (46-52) by a score of 6-5 at Wrigley Field on Saturday. Shortstop Javier Baez led the way for the Cubs by going 3-for-4 and hitting a 3-run home run, as well as making a superb no-look tag in the last inning.

Four dingers were hit in the contest, including a monstrous 468-foot jack by Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. The blinding sun made what would typically be routine catches rather difficult throughout the afternoon, but Baez and Cubs third baseman David Bote made up for the defensive struggles with several great defensive plays in the ninth frame.
