by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO — The Chicago Cubs (6-2) survived a Pittsburgh Pirates (2-6) comeback attempt and won 4-3 at Wrigley Field on Saturday night. Tyler Chatwood started on the mound for the Cubs and was quite impressive in his 6 2/3 innings pitched, striking out 11 to match his career high.

Home runs hit by Ian Happ, Javy Baez and Kyle Schwarber, respectively, provided the Cubs with a 4-0 lead, which the North Siders boasted entering the top of the ninth. With rain coming down at the Friendly Confines, the Pirates tallied three runs in the final inning but came up short in the end.
