CHICAGO — Wrapping up the North Side edition of the 2019 Crosstown Classic in style, the Chicago Cubs (40-33) toppled the rival Chicago White Sox (35-37) in the series finale of the 2-game set at Wrigley Field on Wednesday. Led by catcher Willson Contreras and his five RBI, the Cubs won 7-3 to earn a series split. The rivalry will shift to Guaranteed Rate Field for two games on the South Side in early July.

For the third time in his career, Contreras hit a grand slam, with the bases-clearing blast coming in the bottom of the first and putting the Cubs up 4-1. Contreras then hammered a solo bomb two innings later that added to the Cubs' lead and increased Contreras' homer total for the year to 15. The backstop went 2-for-3 with one walk on the evening and catalyzed the North Siders in their victory over the South Siders.
