WATCH: Highlights of walkoff thriller between Brewers, Cubs

by - Senior Writer -

MILWAUKEE — The second installment of the 3-game series at Miller Park between the Chicago Cubs (55-49) and the Milwaukee Brewers (56-50) went to extra innings on Saturday night. The division foes traded leadoff jacks in the 10th inning, with the Cubs' Albert Almora Jr. and the Brewers' Christian Yelich each going yard, but a walkoff 2-run bomb by Brewers rookie Keston Hiura proved to be the most important dinger.

Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel blew a save opportunity in the bottom of the 10th, as he gave up three runs, including the two scored on the walkoff shot. All three of the Cubs' runs were scored via home runs, with Anthony Rizzo putting the Cubs up 2-0 via a towering 2-run blast in the third frame. Despite Cubs starter Jon Lester dominating, the North Siders lost 5-3 due to an inept performance by the bullpen.
