WATCH: Jason Heyward obliterates pitch on 420-foot 2-run blast |
CINCINNATI — Ending a scoreless night for the Chicago Cubs, Cubs right fielder
Jason Heyward smashed a 2-run blast out to right in the top of the seventh on Friday. The 420-foot blast against the Cincinnati Reds came on a perfect swing by Heyward, which provided the outfielder with his 12th home run of the season and put the Cubs on the scoreboard.
Heyward has been the most reliable hitter for the Cubs in June, and he remained hot with the dinger at Great American Ball Park. Chasing Reds starter Sonny Gray from the game, Heyward drove a changeup into the seats at an exit velocity of 105 miles per hour. Shortstop Javier Baez also scored on the blast, making the score 6-2 in favor of the Reds. J-Hey gets us on the board with his 12th home run of the year. pic.twitter.com/tPqIO0BEuH
