CHICAGO — Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez manufactured a run all by himself at Wrigley Field on Saturday afternoon. After leading off with a triple, Baez hustled home on a wild pitch to put the Cubs up 1-0 over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Baez started off the bottom of the second with a triple hit into the right-field corner. "El Mago" coasted into third base standing up after Brewers right fielder Christian Yelich struggled to field the ball, which caromed off the wall down the right-field side.

Soon afterward, Brewers starter Gio Gonzalez threw a pitch in the dirt that got away from Brewers catcher Manny Pina. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Baez darted for the plate and slid in safely when Pina's throw to a charging Gonzalez was off the mark.
