CHICAGO — With his first hit in a Chicago Cubs uniform, left fielder Joc Pederson put the Cubs on the scoreboard with a clutch solo shot in the bottom of the eighth on Wednesday. The rainmaker tied the Milwaukee Brewers at 1-1 and sent the Wrigley Field faithful into a frenzy.

Pederson, who was signed by the Cubs in the offseason, knew the dinger was gone as soon as left the bat, as he celebrated at home plate after smacking a four-seamer thrown by Brewers reliever Devin Williams. The round-tripper carried 417 feet out to right, sporting an exit velocity of 107.5 mph and a launch angle of 37 degrees.
