CHICAGO — Bringing an end to a longstanding scoreless tie, Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant powered out a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh on Friday. The go-ahead dinger put the Cubs up 1-0 over the Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field.

Taking Pirates starter Chris Archer deep on a sinker, Bryant sent a 368-foot blast just over the wall in the left-field well. The high drive was skied off the bat at an angle of 33 degrees. Bryant now has 18 homers and 45 RBI on the season.
