WATCH: Kris Bryant hits 404-foot firework on Independence Day |
PITTSBURGH — Lighting up with the daytime sky with a firework of a home run, Chicago Cubs slugger
Kris Bryant went yard and put the Cubs up 1-0 over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. With two outs in the top of the first, Bryant swung at the first pitch of his at-bat and sent the ball into the bleachers for a solo homer on Independence Day.
Bryant took Pirates starter Jordan Lyles deep at PNC Park on a four-seamer thrown over the plate. Bryant's 17th dinger of the season, the blast carried 404 feet out to right-center at an exit velocity of 104 miles per hour. The opposite-field tater sported a launch angle of 23 degrees, and it provided Bryant with his 43rd RBI of the year. *Don't say it*
