CHICAGO — The final scoring play of the epic showdown between the Chicago Cubs and the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night incited a roar from the Wrigley Field crowd. A 2-run blast from Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant proved to be the winning hit in the Cubs' 12-11 victory.

Taking Giants reliever Reyes Moronta deep in the bottom of the eighth, Bryant plated Cubs right fielder Nicholas Castellanos, who led off with an infield single, and put the Cubs ahead by one run. Sailing 394 feet out to left field, the go-ahead dinger marked Bryant's 26th long ball of the year.
