CHICAGO — After hitting into a double play in his first at-bat of the day, Chicago Cubs third baseman Patrick Wisdom made up for it by going yard his next time at the plate. Wisdom, who started at first base on Thursday, slugged a leadoff jack in the bottom of the fourth, trimming the Cincinnati Reds' lead to 2-1.
The 373-footer carried out to left-center at Wrigley Field, giving Wisdom, who wears a No. 16 jersey, 16 home runs on the season. Starter Luis Castillo was taken deep on an 88.3-mph changeup, which Wisdom powered out at 97.8 mph and 31 degrees. Wisdom is now tied with catcher Willson Contreras for third on the 2021 Cubs' homer leaderboard.
