Following a curveball all the way into the bat, Chicago Cubs first baseman
Anthony Rizzo displayed great hitting prowess on his 200th home run as a member of the Chicago Cubs on Thursday. Although he had to go down on one knee in order to hit the low breaking ball, Rizzo was able to make perfect contact and send the pitch sailing out to center field to put the Cubs up 4-1 on the Miami Marlins. The round-tripper was Rizzo's 10th of the season.
The 2-run shot in the bottom of the fifth traveled 422 feet and scored third baseman Kris Bryant, who hit a solo homer earlier in the game. Rizzo tabbed his 200th career home run a few days prior, but the very first home run of his career came when Rizzo was a member of the San Diego Padres in 2011. Therefore, the 2-run shot on Thursday served as the 200th dinger of Rizzo's illustrious Cubs career.
