CHICAGO — In the midst of perhaps his best offensive series of the season, Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras followed up a towering home run that he hit in the bottom of the fourth on Wednesday with a triple in his next at-bat that nearly sailed into the bleachers. Hitting off the top of the right-field wall, Contreras' first triple of the season came in the bottom of the sixth against the Atlanta Braves.

Contreras got underneath a fastball thrown by Braves starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel and narrowly missed out on garnering his second homer of the evening. After motoring around the basepaths on the 3-bagger, Contreras was scored on an ensuing RBI groundout off the bat of right fielder Jason Heyward, thereby making the score 5-3 in favor of the Braves. The run scored by Contreras was part of a 3-0 stretch put together by the Cubs that cut into the Braves' 5-0 lead.
