WATCH: Zobrist guns down Matt Carpenter with incredible throw from left field |
Playing in left field against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, 37-year-old Chicago Cubs veteran
Ben Zobrist proved that age is just a number by making an excellent play on a ball hit to shallow left and then gunning down a runner at third.
Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt hit a 1-out single in the top of the third that Zobrist was quick to field. On the play, Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter attempted to advance from first to third. However, a bullet of a throw from Zobrist enabled Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant to tag Carpenter well out in front of the bag, thereby providing Zobrist with an assist. Zooobbbbb hell of a damn great throw spot on to KB as #Cardinals got aggressive and #Cubs got him! pic.twitter.com/oRmZCBM9qa Two knocks, an RBI and some ?? defense from @benzobrist18 tonight!#EverybodyIn pic.twitter.com/1kOViLjOxD
