Chicago Cubs minor league pitcher Williams Perez was involved in an accidental shooting that killed his former baseball coach 52-year old Cesar Quintero.

Perez was reportedly handing over the gun to his coach when the gun accidentally went off.

The Cubs decided on Sunday to release the 26-year old righty according to multiple reports as he was supposed to report to Spring Training on Feb. 13.

In 2017 with Triple-A Iowa, he had a 7-10 record with 5.01 ERA. For his MLB career mostly with the Braves, he had a 9-9 record with a 5.18 ERA.
