I’ve really enjoyed writing The Hot Corner every day for the last couple of weeks, sometimes even twice a day, but I have to tell you, this edition was a grind.

Teams had all day yesterday to tender contracts, trade, DFA, outright players and sign new deals, and they all waited until late afternoon/early evening to pile on. Details will still trickle in during the day today for some clubs, but for the most part, here’s what went down last night.

Cubs news and notes:

Cubs players tendered contracts: Addison Russell, Kris Bryant, Javier Baez, Kyle Schwarber, Kyle Hendricks, Mike Montgomery, Carl Edwards, Jr. The Cubs also tendered contracts to an additional 17 players who were not due for arbitration (names were not released).
