CINCINNATI – The Chicago Cubs today activated infielder Ben Zobrist off of the 10-day disabled list and optioned outfielder Mark Zagunis to Triple-A Iowa.

Zobrist will be available for the Cubs today as they continue their three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park.

Zobrist was placed on the disabled list on June 16 with left wrist inflammation. He played in two rehab games with Double-A Tennessee as part of his return, going 3-for-6 with a pair of walks while playing defensively at second base, left field and right field. With the Cubs this year, Zobrist is batting .223 (42-for-188) with seven doubles, two triples, seven homers and 21 RBI in 54 games.

Zagunis went hitless in 14 at-bats with four walks, an RBI and two stolen bases in seven games with the Cubs during his first stint in the big leagues. With Iowa this season, he is hitting .249 (53-for-213) with 13 doubles, 11 home runs, 35 RBI, 42 runs scored and an .873 OPS in 65 games.
