Alec Mills throws first career no-hitter as Cubs shut out Brewers 12-0

by - Senior Writer -

MILWAUKEE — With this first no-hitter of his career and the first Chicago Cubs no-hitter since Jake Arrieta threw one on April 21, 2016, Cubs starter Alec Mills tossed a no-hitter on Sunday. While the Cubs drubbed the Milwaukee Brewers 12-0 at Miller Park, the story of the game was Mills' dominant pitching.

Mills walked three and struck out five in his complete game shutout. He improved to 5-3 with the winning decision and is now the second pitcher on the Cubs' pitching staff with a no-hitter, as Jon Lester threw one with the Boston Red Sox in 2008. The no-no is the 16th history and the second thrown by a Cub in Miller Park.
