Cubs News: Arrieta on Montero's comments: "I love Miggy"

Chicago Cubs backup catcher Miguel Montero was designated for assignment on Wednesday after he made some provocative comments about Jake Arrieta not helping him as the Nationals stole seven bases last night.

"It really sucked, because the stolen bases go on me," Montero said on Tuesday. "But when you really look at it, the pitcher doesn’t give me any time, so yeah, ‘Miggy can’t throw anyone out,’ but my pitchers don’t hold anyone on."

However, Arrieta had nothing but respectable things to say following Montero's departure on Wednesday.

"I love Miggy," Arrieta said. "As you guys know, he'll say some things from the heart. He's open and honest. That's the way Miggy is."
