Cubs News: Boras on Harper's relationship with Bryant, Bryant trade rumors

by - Senior Editor -

The Winter Meetings wouldn't be complete without an impromptu Wednesday media session with mega-agent Scott Boras surrounded by over 100 reporters.

Boras handles several high-profile baseball players including free-agent slugger Bryce Harper and was asked about Harper and Kris Bryant's bromance dating back years and years growing up in Las Vegas.

"KB and Harp have a great personal and professional relationship," Boras said via 670 The Score. "I think a lot of their conversation is about hitting, to tell you the truth. I think they enjoy one and other. Both understand that these decisions and what owners do are really independent of their relationship. They know they don't have a lot of control over it."

Boras went on to say that the Cubs could make a move for Harper if they wanted to.

"Some of these franchises (like the Cubs) are worth billions of dollars more than when they purchased it. They have the wealth to do what they want to do for there club."

Boras was asked about the story by ESPN's Buster Olney that the Cubs were open to trading Bryant this offseason.

"I had heard the rumor of it," he said. "I had conversations where we found out that really isn't the case."
