Cubs News: Contreras injury update |
Chicago Cubs catcher
Willson Contreras was injured during Wednesday's game as he trying to leg out an infield single in the seventh inning.
It appeared that his right hamstring gave way half way down the baseline. He walked gingerly off the field with the help the Cubs training staff. Contreras was recently named National League Player of the Month for hitting 10-for-22 with five homers and 12 RBIs. Since the All-Star break, he is batting .311 with 10 homers and 29 RBIs. This injury is not the best of news for a ballclub struggling to hit consistently. Update: Maddon said a DL stint for Contreras is very likely and he will undergo an MRI tomorrow in Arizona to determine the severity of the injury. Kyle Hendricks spoke to reporters after Wednesday's game about Contreras' injury. "It's definitely a big blow. It sucks right now," Hendricks said. "You just feel bad for a guy that works that hard, does everything the right way." Click here to purchase this hot gear Check out the video below of the play. Uh oh.
