Cubs-Cardinals series reportedly postponed

The first-place Chicago Cubs were ready to battle their rival St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night.
However, MLB canceled tonight's contest due to a new positive case among the Cardinals players. In total, the Redbirds have 14 positive cases with 8 of them being players.
It was hopeful that they would be able to get in a doubleheader on Sunday but MLB Network insider Joel Sherman and others are reporting that the series is canceled.
"MLB has not made it official but I hear the #Cubs #StlCards series this weekend has been postponed," Sherman posted on social media.
The Cubs will now fly home tonight (off-day on Monday scheduled) and prepare to play Tuesday in Cleveland.
Correct. We are in the ‘abundance of caution’ phase of this outbreak https://t.co/waVa5TkFb6— Jesse Rogers (@JesseRogersESPN) August 7, 2020
Confirmed: Cubs-Cardinals weekend series postponed. Cubs to fly home tonight. Next scheduled to play Tuesday in Cleveland.— Gordon Wittenmyer (@GDubCub) August 7, 2020
One key aspect to this is that the player who tested positive, I am told, and I am reiterating here, was with the team in Milwaukee. That means he flew with teammates and worked out with them Wednesday and Thursday. This is not trending well for the #STLCards— Mark Saxon (@markasaxon) August 7, 2020
St Louis have played just 5 games in two weeks. Fewest of any club in baseball.— Bruce Levine (@MLBBruceLevine) August 8, 2020
