Cubs lineup vs. Reds, Bryant out

The Chicago Cubs (40-39) will battle the Cincinnati Reds at 6:10 p.m. CDT on Friday night televised on WGN-TV. The Cubs are 5-1 on the season against the Reds.

Lefty Mike Montgomery will take the mound for the defending World Champions. In 2017, he is 1-4 with an impressive 2.50 ERA with 45 strikeouts. He will be pitching against former Cubs player Scott Feldman.

Young catcher Victor Caratini will get his first major league start today.

In injury news, Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward is on the disabled list with a hand abrasion and Ben Zobrist is still out with his wrist injury and doing a rehab assignment at Double-A Tennessee.

In case you missed it, Kris Bryant is out with a right ankle injury that he suffered during Wednesday night's game.

The Cubs are currently still in second place in the National League Central (1 GB) behind the Milwaukee Brewers.
