CINCINNATI – The Chicago Cubs today have recalled left-handed pitcher Randy Rosario from Triple-A Iowa. Rosario will serve as the 26th man for the day-night doubleheader in Cincinnati.

Rosario, who will wear number 47, has posted no record and a 0.52 ERA (1 ER/17.1 IP) in 11 relief appearances with Iowa. He has walked just five batters, contributing to a 0.87 WHIP, and has limited opponents to a .167 average (10-for-60), including holding left-handed batters hitless in 15 at-bats.

Rosario, 24, made his major league debut with Minnesota last year, allowing eight earned runs in 2.1 innings in two relief outings. In eight minor league seasons, the southpaw is 18-22 with a 3.24 ERA (133 ER/370.0 IP) in 118 outings, including 55 starts.

A native of Rio San Juan, D.R., Rosario originally signed as a non-drafted free agent with the Twins in August of 2010, and was claimed off waivers by the Cubs, November 3, 2017.
