DENVER – The Chicago Cubs today recalled infielder Jeimer Candelario from Triple-A Iowa. Candelario will serve as the 26th man in the second game of today’s day-night doubleheader in Colorado.

Candelario, 23, is batting .340 (33-for-97) with 12 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 22 RBI in 28 games for Iowa this season. He has a .443 on-base percentage and a .649 slugging percentage, good for a 1.093 OPS.

The switch-hitter made his major league debut with the Cubs last season, going 1-for-11 (.091) during a brief five-game stint with the club in July.

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Candelario is a career .273 hitter (692-for-2,536) with 60 homers and 383 RBI in 686 minor league games covering seven seasons in the Cubs organization.
