Cubs sign first-rounder Ed Howard to full slot value

The Chicago Cubs have signed their talented first-rounder Ed Howard, whom they selected with the 16th overall pick in the 2020 amateur draft.

"Dreams 2 reality. Thank you, Cubs organization! Let's do it," Howard posted on social media on Sunday night.

Howard will receive $3.7455 million, which is the slotted value at his spot in the draft. An official announcement of the deal from the ballclub will be made after the paperwork is finalized.

He hit .421 with 11 doubles, four triples, and three homers as a junior in high school.
