David Ross discusses if any Cubs players tested positive for COVID-19

Chicago Cubs players have been reporting to Spring Training 2.0 since Thursday.

Cubs manager David Ross told reporters earlier in the week that he hasn't heard of any positive tests with his players regarding COVID-19.

On Friday, during his media availability via zoom, he was a little more general in his talk of COVID-19 but believes that the players will all make it into camp from what he has heard from officials.

"We're not supposed to comment, I guess — I think you guys have heard all that — on testing positive or negative or any of that stuff, and so I don't wanna lead into that," he said. "But I definitely expect everybody to be here. I haven't heard anybody's not going to be here."

Ross went into more detail in a follow-up answer.

"Report times are spread out, so not everybody is actually here," he said. "But I haven't heard of anybody that is not gonna be showing up today."

Ross also thinks that players need to take leadership and big-time responsibility for their actions during this COVID-19 pandemic.

"We're not going to be able to go out to bars. That puts your teammates at risk. That puts family members at risk. We have high-risk teammates. We have high-risk family members at home. That would be an extremely selfish move on their part. That will be addressed."
