Cubs News: David Ross on giving Javy Baez a day-off |
Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
'El Mago' is currently in a hitting slump as he is 0-for-16 during the last few games. Cubs manager David Ross talked to the media during pregame and shared that Baez has some sinus issues and just needs a mental day too. "He's been a little under the weather too with some sinus stuff going on," he said. "I've pushed him really hard as a lot of these guys I have. Him and Rizz and Willson." The club needs a refreshed Baez before a few doubleheaders this upcoming week. "I’ve pushed these guys pretty heavy lately after the days off so getting him off his feet, getting him a mental reset and getting him ready for the games we’ve got to come I felt like was good for him and our team." Great move by Ross because even a magician needs a day off eventually. For the season, Baez is hitting .205 with three homers and 10 RBI.
