Cubs News: Hawk Harrelson on Wrigley: "It's time for that ballpark to be replaced" |
Chicago White Sox announcer Hawk Harrelson is one of those guys that you either love or hate. Honestly, I think the majority of baseball fans are not very fond of him.
Harrelson announced the Crosstown rivalry at Wrigley Field last month and wasn't professional with some of his remarks about how players should go after John Lackey and other silly comments. However, Cub fans won't have to worry about Mr. Harrelson because he said he won't ever return to the historic ballpark again according to an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times. "Fenway is just a special place," Harrelson said. "Look at this ballpark. The only [visiting clubhouse] worse is Wrigley Field — the two worst clubhouses in baseball for visiting players. I’ll tell you this much: I’ll never go back to Wrigley Field again." Well, Harrelson just couldn't stop chatting about his team's cross-town rival Cubs in Monday's interview with 670's The Score's "Inside the Clubhouse." "It’s just time for that ballpark to be replaced," Harrelson said shockingly. "It’s just that simple. I’m just saying stuff that everybody knows who goes there. But nobody wanted to say it, so I decided yeah, I’ll never step another foot inside Wrigley Field.” This is some insane stuff from Harrelson as Wrigley Field is one of the most treasured and beloved sporting locations in the United States. In all honesty and a complete contrast to the cathedral that is Wrigley Field, I can barely remember what the White Sox ballpark is even called.
