Cubs News: Jon Lester exits game with injury |
This is not good at all.
Veteran ace Jon Lester left Monday's home opener with a left hamstring injury. He was taken out of the game after two batters in the third inning. In the previous inning, he had a RBI double and scored later on a Ben Zobrist single. After the slide at home, he got up gingerly and looked very uncomfortable and hardly celebrated with his teammates in the dugout. Joe Maddon and the trainer checked him out and took him out of the ballgame in the third inning and Lester didn't agree with them at all. Brad Brach took over for Lester and held the Pirates scoreless for the inning. Lester is scheduled to pitch Sunday against the Angels. If Lester can't go, Tyler Chatwood might be the one to get a spot start since Mike Montgomery is currently on the injury list. when lester leaves with an injury and the bullpen needs to get 21 outs pic.twitter.com/lykOWIpVY2 Lester is hurt .
