Cubs News: Jon Lester to make two starts before All-Star break

by - Senior Editor -

Good news for Jon Lester fantasy baseball owners as Lester will be making two starts before the 2017 All-Star game including Tuesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Wrigley Field and then a start against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Veteran John Lackey's Tuesday start was pushed back to Wednesday to ensure that Lester got two starts in before the All-Star break. It's a good move for the Cubs because Lackey is throwing up batting practice fastballs for homers at a very high clip (24) this season. However, Lester is still pitching decent this season as one of the few dependable starters for the Northsiders this season.

In 2017, Lester has a 5-4 record with a 3.69 ERA including 104 strikeouts and 1.23 WHIP. He was sharp his last game receiving the win going six strong innings giving up only three hits and a run in the 6-2 over the Reds.
