Cubs News: Kyle Schwarber on slow start: "Bear with us"

by - Senior Editor -

The Cubs are getting a little momentum with two straight wins over the last-place Miami Marlins.

However, Die-hard Cubs fans are still very concerned about everything from the season record to the bullpen, and the lack of hitting so far by Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Kyle Schwarber, and others.

“People are just being a little reactive to the whole situation,” Schwarber said Monday to the media. “So bear with us. It’s a long season. I know everyone here is doing the work they need to be prepared for the game, so there’s no question about that."

It’s a game of baseball," Schwarber said. “Anything can happen. I think we’re all going out there and doing our work and being prepared for the game.”

Schwarber knows that he can get on a hot streak at any time and help out the ballclub.

“There’s always going to be ups and downs,” he said. “There’s going to be times where you’re 20-for-20 or 0-for-20 or whatever.

Schwarber has hit a cold streak going 2-for-24 in his last six games. For the season, he is batting .192 with three homers and 6 RBIs.
