MLB releases update on canceled games because of COVID-19 |
Tonight’s scheduled games between the Miami Marlins and the Baltimore Orioles at Marlins Park and the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees at Citizens Bank Park have been postponed while Major League Baseball conducts additional COVID-19 testing.
The members of the Marlins’ traveling party are self-quarantining in place while awaiting the outcome of those results. Major League Baseball has been coordinating with the Major League Baseball Players Association; the Marlins; the Orioles; the Marlins’ weekend opponent, the Phillies; and Club medical staffs, and will continue to provide updates as appropriate. Obviously they have a lot of concerns but one of them is fielding a representative team. It took baseball all of four days before a game had to be canceled. Meanwhile, European soccer is finishing seasons not only without any canceled games, but with barely any positive COVID tests. Are we really ready as a country to have sports back? The Marlins all got tested again this morning in their hotel in Philly. Now they wait. There are no other #MLB games today currently under consideration of being cancelled as test results are s till coming in.
